Electrical Engineer (Power/Communications)

The Company

PTS is a German new-space company whose aim is to democratize access to space and bring down the cost of space exploration. PTS is a privately held company, and our goal is to show that it is possible to build a sustainable business in space exploration. As well as delivering cheaper and more regular opportunities for academics, industry, and educational institutions to conduct in-space research, we are keen to develop the infrastructure required for future settlement on the Moon and beyond.

 

Your Tasks

Development of a battery subsystem

• GaN FET based converters
• Battery cells selection and testing
• Battery housing design (CAD)

Development of a communications subsystem

• COTS assessment (antenna, dividers)
• Link budget calculations

• Organization of and participation in tests required for space qualification of electronics hardware
• Interface definition and I/O calculations

 

Your Profile

• Experience in:

– PCB design

– Battery cell testing

– RF Protocols (CCSDS)

– Software-defined radio (SDR), e.g. GNU Radio

– Documentation and process flow following standards like ECSS

• Good ability to work as a team, reliability, flexibility, and commitment
• Good English speaking and writing skills
• Bonus:
  • Aerospace experience
  • Experience with CAN
