Mechanical Engineer for Rostock-Laage (IoT)

The Company

PTS is a German new-space company whose aim is to democratize the access to space and bring down the cost of space exploration. We are keen to develop the infrastructure required for future settlement on the Moon and beyond. Together with German Airways and Rostock-Laage-Güstrow Airport, we form the aerospace division of the Zeitfracht Group. Rostock Airport is a significant hub in the heart of Europe and will be the home of our new IoT Logistics division, where our terrestrial Container Logistics and Asset Monitoring system, a highly reliable fleet utilization management solution for land and last-mile services, is developed.

Your Tasks

Mechanical and Thermal Engineering

• Coordinate with electronics designers to ensure housing design matches PCB needs
• Design electronics housing including PCB mounting points and connectors
• Work with vendors to procure casing in line with quality standards
• Own mechanical requirements and conduct flow down of requirements to meet internal design and requirements verification needs
• Perform FEA of case design and PCB to ensure mechanical stability
• Support Quality Process
• Assist Quality Manager in defining processes for our Quality System, including material/parts inspection, handling, manufacture, etc.

MAIT Support

• Assembly of prototype hardware
• Inspection and maintenance of documentation during MAIT processes
• Support qualification and testing campaigns: liaising with sites to ensure test equipment suitability, identification of processes and test plans, equipment inspection.

Development of a battery subsystem

• Battery housing design
• Organization of and participation in tests required for automotive & logistic qualification of electronics & battery hardware
• Support of CE-certification
• Interface definition and I/O calculations

Your Profile

• Degree in mechanical/industrial engineering or related field.
• Experience in:
  • Designing electronic housing including mechanical structures
  • CAE/ CAD (Solidworks is a plus)
  • Communication with vendors to procure in line with quality standard
  • Product assurance for mechanical systems

• Good ability to work as a team, reliability, flexibility, and commitment
• Good English speaking and writing skills
• German speaking and writing skills
• Bonus:
  • Logistics / Automotive experience
  • Experience designing, manufacturing, and testing IoT hardware
  • Experience participating in design reviews
