Propulsion Engineer (f/m/d)

We are a New Space company based in Berlin and we are part of the Zeitfracht Group. We are developing space vehicles, rovers and infrastructure for the Moon. Our goal is to make space exploration accessible to new customer groups by reducing mission costs and developing reusable space-based infrastructures. PTS cooperates with a number of industrial partners and space organisations, such as the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and the European Space Agency (ESA).

The Position:

We are looking for an experienced Propulsion Engineer with a strong background in chemical propulsion systems to lead the propulsion system development for our lunar lander. The Propulsion Engineer will be responsible for the design of a lunar lander propulsion system and coordination with the subcontractors who will build and test it.

 

Your work will include:

  • Lead the propulsion system development
  • Definition and monitoring of subsystem requirements
  • Performing system trade-offs in collaboration with other subsystems
  • Flow-down of mission requirements into propulsion system, system sizing and architecture conception
  • Execution of various analyses of the propulsion system such as: propellant and pressurant budgets, control authority, perturbation estimation, static and transient pressure drops
  • Coordination with other subsystems and external partners and suppliers
  • Assembly, integration and test planning for the propulsion system
  • Provide regular technical reporting of the propulsion system design and analysis as well as contribute in the preparation and execution of project and technology studies

 

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in aerospace engineering with a strong focus on propulsion technologies from a recognized institution of secondary studies or equivalent
  • Experience in Systems Engineering and Propulsion Engineering in industry or institutional entity
  • Proven knowledge of chemical propulsion system design
  • Ability to interface with industry
  • Very good interpersonal, organisational and communication skills, with the ability to work in a diverse team environment
  • Proficiency in the English language (spoken and written)
  • Excellent MATLAB or Python skills

 

Nice to haves:

  • Exposure to full cycle of propulsion system development from Phase A to Phase E
  • Experience of AOCS/ GNC design in GPS denied environment
  • Proficiency in the German language (spoken and written)
